Day Classes
Bookings must be made in advance and be accompanied by full payment as stated in the class description. Reserved places are not confirmed until payment has been received.
A refund (less a £25 cost for administration) can only be given if notice of cancellation is received at least 8 weeks prior to the start of the class. Where notice is received less than 8 weeks prior to the start of the class a refund will only be given (less a £25 cost for administration) if I am able to fill the place from the waiting list.
Monies cannot be transferred to another class unless a request is received at least 8 weeks prior to the start of the class, or I am able to fill the place from the waiting list.
All fees are subject to an annual review and may be increased in line with inflation. This means that current advertised fees may be higher than those set previously and are being paid by continuing students.
Short Course and Block of the Month programmes
Bookings must be made in advance and be accompanied either by payment in full or a joining payment followed by regular monthly payments. Reserved places are not confirmed until payment has been received.
A refund of the joining fee (less a £25 cost for administration) can only be given if notice of cancellation is received at least 8 weeks prior to the start of the course or programme. Where the course includes a kit, then the full cost of the kit will be deducted from any refund due unless I am able to fill the place from the waiting list. If I am unable to fill the place, then you will receive the kit as advertised.
Where notice is received less than 8 weeks prior to the start of the class or course a refund will only be given (less a £25 cost for administration) if I am able to fill the place from the waiting list.
Monies cannot be transferred to another class unless a request is received at least 8 weeks prior to the start of course or I am able to fill the place from the waiting list. This is to protect the viability of the class for all participants.
Please note: Payments are taken in advance of the class programme starting and run until the full number agreed have been taken, irrespective of actual class dates. This means that there may be months where a payment is taken but no class is held during that month. However, this also means that there may be two classes held in one month or that there will be classes held at the end of the programme where no monthly payment is taken. Once the programme has commenced all agreed payments must be made irrespective of attendance. This is to protect the viability of the course for all participants.
All fees are subject to an annual review and may be increased in line with inflation. This means that current advertised fees may be higher than those set previously and are being paid by continuing students.
Missed Course Dates
Due to scheduling constraints, there is no general provision for class dates to be exchanged.
If you need to miss a date, then you should let me have the appropriate details giving as much notice as possible – by e-mail is preferable. In these situations, I will provide you with any handouts or instruction sheets relevant to the missed class at a suitable time. If there is more than one class scheduled at the same time it may be possible to offer an alternative date. Otherwise, if you wish to book a separate catch-up session for a later date this will be charged at the appropriate advertised fee.
If you need to miss a class at short notice due to a serious unforeseen circumstance such as an accident, hospitalisation, or bereavement, please notify me within 2 weeks of the class date. In this instance I will provide you with any handouts or instruction sheets relevant to the missed class at a suitable time. Where possible you will also be offered a free catch-up session to ensure that you don't fall behind.
You should be aware that Catch Up sessions are subject to availability and will generally be led by Richard Cook or Denise Geach to reduce the impact on classes running at the same time.
Administrative Cancellations
Occasionally, due to a lack of demand, I may have to cancel a class at short notice. In this circumstance a full refund will be given, and no administration charge will be made.
On occasion circumstances outside of my control, such as a power failure or adverse weather conditions, may mean that I deem it necessary to postpone a class at short notice due to safety concerns. All registered participants will be notified individually by text or phone with as much notice as possible. This will generally be during the evening before the scheduled class date.
In these circumstances the class will be rescheduled for an alternative date. If this is not possible, each registered student will be able to book a free Catch-Up class on a suitable date instead. Refunds will not be given in these circumstances.
Pastures New Quilting reserves the right to modify these terms at any time without prior notice. Any modification of these terms will be deemed to be effective from the date and time of posting on the Pastures New Quilting web site.
Classroom Etiquette
The classroom should be a place of relative calm and quiet to enable everyone to concentrate and sew with pleasure. This is especially true where the class involves new, unfamiliar, or complex techniques.
To make the classroom a pleasant place for everyone please:
• Arrive 15 minutes before class start time to give you time to get settled and greet fellow students. This will then enable classes to start promptly at 9.30am
• If you do exceptionally arrive late, please leave all your equipment outside the classroom and take your seat quietly so as not to disturb the class. Apologies and explanations can wait until a suitable break
• Please ensure you have understood any homework or future requirements before leaving class. I run many classes each month and it is not always possible to give you the information in retrospect
• Please complete any pre-course work or any homework before coming to the next class. This means that the whole class can move on at a suitable pace together and prevent piecemeal information giving
• Please check you have everything you need when packing to come to class to get the best from your dy. Whilst I have a small stock of essentials for students use, I am not always able to provide missing items in these instances
• Finally, please try to keep general conversation to a gentle hum so as not to disturb other students
